April 18, 2023. Them dosh-garned cooters are spreading out, despite the best efforts of Sheriff Lindley, his deputy Sweets, them miscreants, and the other good people of Pachuco, Texas. If this keeps up, they’ll be everywhere. Not quite yet, though. This month, we have it on good authority that they plan to attack Atlanta, Georgia and Dubuque

Devourer of Crabs. Never get between Parris and a crab, especially if it’s a blue crab from the Chesapeake Bay. She gets a manicial gleam in her eye, and begins to wield her little wooden mallet like Thor wields Mjolnir. Fandom in the 70s. Ah, I remember it well.. skinny-dipping in the hotel pools, masquerade costumes that left little or nothing to the imagination, belly-button artwork…. Martin, a maestro of fantasy literature, doesn’t use modern writing tools. Instead, he turns to a piece of technology that many today might find archaic, the 36-year-old WordStar 4.0. WordStar, a DOS-based word processing software, dominated the digital writing scene in the 1980s, with version 4.0 having launched in 1987.
And they did with a fantasy, a genre that previously had gotten very little respect. GAME OF THRONES changed television, and let us hope that all the fantasy shows that follow — some GOT prequels, many not — will take the torch we lit and carry it proudly. This year’s winner will be announced in LA on September 22.
